In-Between (teaser)
Saga (teaser)
'In Between' is a devised performance in a controlled setting where the framework of the performance is not made clear to one of the performers to stimulate improvisation and oschillation between subject and object roles.
In the edited video work, the actual performance that took place in the studio is cut out, leaving the in-between bits. From that angle the work explores power play, improvised storytelling and how the connection between the two performers progresses.
Saga is a two channel video installation by Daniel Maalman and Sigrún Gudmundsdóttir. The enticing chant by Steindór Andersen, recorded in Reykjanes lavafields, tells the tale of a traveler and his journey through rough landscapes in traditional form of Nordic rhymes. The images resemble photographs but slight movement of mist and afterglow continuously contort and reshape the desolate landscapes echoing the travelers tale and a nations hunger for storytelling. The installation is 45 min and rolls continuously.
